The world of kitchen cabinets has evolved into one of high drama, where fashionably curved, sculpted and organic shapes set the stage. And some are absolutely awe inspiring, like the modular designs created by Boxetti (www.boxetti.com). Designed to use every inch of space, and therefore perfect in small apartments, but equally stunning in grander spaces, these compact units with expandable shelves and drawers not only define the new age of cutting-edge designers, but also the future

The capability of the Modules to be transformed into compactly solid blocks is essential for the design concept in order to obtain an unobstructed and comfortable space – free of uselessness. Boxetti at 100% design london 2009

The Boxetti stand at 100% Design London, the contemporary Interiors & architectural exhibition grabbed my attention. Despite the Italian sounding name and styling, these hi-tech “transformer” pieces of furniture are designed and manufactured in Latvia. These “boxes” or modules are transformed by the touch of a remote control button, into a bar complete with retractable stool or audio visual system. I love the high gloss white finish and bright orange of the exposed, functional elements. The brand, marketing and design quality of the finished products are well executed, eye catching and effective. Well done, I’m very impressed.
